SBI has some ATM safety tips for you
Mind the surrounding
State Bank of India warned its customers to be aware of the surroundings inside ATMs and check for spy cameras. It also said that while using ATM one should cover the keypads.
Don't pin the PIN
Users should never write the PIN on their ATM cards, SBI has warned. It also said that customers never share pin or card details of the ATM cards to anyone
Don't do the obvious
Also, one should not use obvious numbers as their PIN number. For instance, birthdate, phone or account numbers are the first guesses of any fraudsters; so always abstain from using those as ATM pin.
Stranger is danger
SBI has warned that customers should not respond to text messages, emails or calls asking for card details or PIN. There have been many of instances where people were deceived of their hard-earned money after sharing card details to frauds who often call them posing as bank representatives.
Other most important things
SBI has also warned people to beware of key manipulation, shoulder surfing, heat mapping inside ATMs. You should also sign up for transactional alerts so that you can inform the bank immediately in case of any unauthorised transactions.
