Govt issues warning for restaurants, says 'can't force customers to pay 'service charge''

The Department of Consumer Affairs on Monday cautioned restaurants that are forcefully making customers pay 'service charges', the government said. It stated that service charge is voluntary and at the discretion of consumers. This comes after a Hyderabad restaurant was fined for forcing a customer to pay the service charge.
