CCI approves merger of HDFC Bank and HDFC

The CCI has approved the proposal for the merger of Housing Development Finance Corporation (HDFC) and HDFC Bank. The board of HDFC approved the firm's merger with HDFC Bank in April this year. Following the merger, HDFC Bank will be 100% owned by public shareholders and existing shareholders of HDFC Limited will own 41% of HDFC Bank.
