Direct tax collection rose by 35% this fiscal till Sep 8: IT data

Direct tax collection, which includes personal income tax, increased by 35.46% to ₹6.48 lakh crore in the current financial year till September 8, according to the Income Tax (IT) Department's data. Direct tax collection after net refunds stood at ₹5.29 lakh crore. The country's GDP growth was at 13.5% in the first quarter of this fiscal ending June 30, 2022.
