NASA, SpaceX launch 1st global water survey mission into orbit

The Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) mission lifted off aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on Friday. The mission is a joint effort between NASA and the French space agency CNES. "Once in orbit, SWOT will measure the height of water in freshwater bodies and the ocean on more than 90% of Earth's surface," NASA officials said.
