An average day on Earth lasted for about 19 hours for one billion years some 1.4 billion years ago, according to a study by geophysicists. The stalling of the Earth's daily hours coincided with a period of relatively limited biological evolution known as the 'boring billion', the study said. Day length was shorter because the Moon was closer, it added
