The women's reservation bill guarantees a 33% quota for women in Lok Sabha and state assemblies. Women MPs currently account for less than 15% of Lok Sabha strength. The bill has been pending for nearly 27 years, with opposition from some parties and demands for quota for backward classes within the women's quota being key obstacles"
