We’d love to have better facilities,” say the workers mostly in their twenties who aspire to a fresh start after the plant was taken over by one of India’s largest conglomerates from Taiwanese contract manufacturer Wistron in early November.

The manufacturing plant comes with a controversial legacy including a major workers unrest in 2020, when it was ransacked in protest against charges of unpaid wages and exploitative working hours.

Fast forward three years, the Tata-takeover has infused fresh optimism in the young workforce.
