Earth's interior cooling faster than expected, finds study

Researchers from US' Carnegie Institution for Science and ETH Zurich's Motohiko Murakami found that Earth's interior is cooling faster than expected. The scientists developed a measurement system and found that the thermal conductivity of bridgmanite is about 1.5 times higher than assumed. Murakami said that this higher heat flow from the core to the mantle indicates an acceleration in Earth's cooling.
