Work underway to widen two-way section of Suez Canal by 10 km

The Suez Canal Authority Chairman Osama Rabie on Tuesday said work is underway to expand the two-way section of the Suez Canal from 72 km to 82 km. The expansion began last year after one of the world’s largest container ships, the Ever Given, got stuck for almost a week in March, causing global disruption to shipping traffic and trade.
