Which departments have highest no. of vacancies out of 9.79 lakh vacant posts in Centre?

The Centre informed Lok Sabha that there are around 9.79 lakh vacant posts in various ministries/departments of the central government, as per the Annual Report of Pay Research Unit of the Department of Expenditure. As per the report, Railways Ministry has the highest number of vacancies (2.93 lakh), followed by the Defence Ministry (Civilian- 2.64 lakh), Home Ministry (1.43 lakh), and Department of Post (90,050).
