Antarctic glaciers flow faster in summers, satellite data shows

Satellite images showed that Antarctica's glaciers that move along its coastline flow faster than usual in the summer. While the average speed of glaciers is around one kilometre each year, its speed has been found to increase by up to 22% in summer when temperatures are warmer. This happens due to melting snow and warmer ocean water, the study stated.
